Air Quality Impact Assessments and Air Emission Licences:

Activities that emit pollutants that are known to have a negative impact on human health and the environment. An Air Quality Impact Assessment Report and Dispersion Modelling are required to be submitted to the relevant authority when wanting to apply for an Environmental Authorisation and/or AEL. Air Quality Impact Assessments and Dispersion Modelling are vital tools that can be used by both the emitter and the regulatory authority.

Stack Emission Monitoring

Amongst other reasons, Stack Emission Monitoring is routinely undertaken to demonstrate compliance against limits outlined for permitted processes. Rayten is SANAS accredited for stack emission monitoring and we ensure the highest standard at all times using only highly experienced and accredited staff and well maintained and calibrated equipment. In a typical year, Rayten monitors over 450 stacks servicing several of the largest mines and industries in the country.

Ambient Air and Dust Fallout Monitoring:

Dust fallout is a major problem arising from various mining, industrial, construction and farming activities. It can have an impact on health, infrastructure, and agriculture. Long term monitoring will give a good indication of dust fallout patterns during different seasons and operational conditions and assist management to make informed decisions towards reduction.

Rayten Environmental

The GHG mandatory reporting regulations and the Carbon Tax Act No. 15 of 2019 are integral in ensuring South Africa’s commitment to tackle Climate Change. Rayten Environmental has been established to assist clients in this regard, and with regards to sustainability reporting and ESG data monitoring. Home | Rayten Environmental

Noise Monitoring

Rayten undertakes ambient noise monitoring using a calibrated BSWA sound level meter to compare the measured sound power levels against the acceptable ambient noise levels within a district. The construction or upgrading of a facility can become a nuisance noise for the surrounding community. We can assist clients to determine the impact of the noise associated with the construction, operation, and decommissioning phase of their facilities by developing a Noise Dispersion model and a Noise Impact Assessment report.

The Importance of Environmental Monitoring

The global health impact of air pollution cannot be overstated, and in this regard, monitoring is the most important first step towards addressing many of these environmental issues. This is even more poignant to us as South Africans as our air quality, and acquiring our legal standard for emissions continues to be a persistent issue. To this end, Rayten continues to play an important role in establishing modern, effective, and advanced air quality monitoring solutions in South Africa in addition to consistently and thoroughly completing hundreds of projects every year.
